About Sangit Om
Sangit Om utilizes Bamboo Flutes on nearly all of his recordings, and wooden flutes, tin whistles and even a clay flute. He equally plays piano – in actuality this might be his key instrument. He received his initially piano classes when he was five years aged, back in 1959. He learned to play violin later and studied music found on the Music University in Hannover (Germany), where he additionally studied composition with Ladislav Kupcovic. He graduated, but then he sought to become a jazz musician and played piano in smoky bars (cause that’s how all jazz musicians start).
After a while he felt this was too boring, so he began to travel and this method he learned a lot much more about music. In India he found a instructor who showed him how to play the bamboo flute and how difficult it is very, to play Indian music. By the way: ”SANGIT OM” is an historic Indian mantra meaning ”music is the sound of internal silence”. His real name is Stefan Petersilge – choose yourself which name you like greater!
Naturally he began to merge all his musical affects to locate his own special design. Although he doesn’t like the present program of musical genres (for him music is only music, occasionally wise, often bad) it was apparent, that his music may ideal be described as NEW AGE MUSIC, with a touch of WORLD MUSIC and JAZZ.
He lives since years in Crete and there he has his own studio, the WORLD SOUND STUDIO. He produced several CDs that have been lucrative in numerous nations. His initial CDs were introduced by NIGHTINGALE RECORDS, later he worked with EMI, BAUER and OREADE. As another facette of his creative function he worked for other NEW AGE artists as a manufacturer and ingeneer.
His initially album was called “True Stories”. He insisted, that everything on this CD has a true story behind it, or is a true story in itself.
