About the Author Jon Kabat-Zinn
Jon Kabat-Zinn (born June 5, 1944) is Professor of Medicine Emeritus and founding director of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He teaches mindfulness meditation as a technique to aid folks deal with strain, anxiousness, pain and disease.

Kabat-Zinn is the founder and previous Executive Director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is furthermore the founder (1979) and previous director of its famous Stress Reduction Clinic and Professor of Medicine emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Kabat-Zinn received his Ph.D. in molecular biology in 1971 from MIT where he studied under Salvador Luria, Nobel Laureate in Medicine. Kabat-Zinn has prepared noticeable contributions to contemporary healthcare with his analysis which focused on mind/body interactions for healing, and on different medical applications of mindfulness meditation training for individuals with chronic pain and/or stress-related disorders.
