The Broker - by John Grisham - Audio Book CD

Brand New (5 CDs - 6 hours):

About The Broker

In his final hours in the Oval Office, the outgoing President grants a controversial last-minute pardon to Joel Backman, a notorious Washington force broker who has invested the last six years hidden away in a federal prison. What nobody knows is the fact that the President issues the pardon just after getting massive stress within the CIA. It seems Backman, in his force broker heyday, will have obtained tips that compromise the world’s many sophisticated satellite surveillance program.

Backman is quietly smuggled from the nation in a military cargo airplane, provided a new name, a new identity, along with a brand-new house in Italy. Eventually, after he has settled into his new lifetime, the CIA might leak his whereabouts to the Israelis, the Russians, the Chinese, and the Saudis. Next the CIA may do just what it does best: sit back and observe. The query is not whether Backman may survive—there is not any chance of that. The query the CIA demands answered is, who can kill him?

About John Grisham

Long before his name became synonymous with all the contemporary legal thriller, he was functioning 60-70 hours a week at a little Southaven, Mississippi law practice, squeezing in time before going to the workplace and during courtroom recesses to function on his hobby—writing his initially novel.

Born on February 8, 1955 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to a construction worker along with a homemaker, John Grisham as a child dreamed of being a expert baseball player. Realizing he didn’t have the proper stuff for a professional profession, he shifted gears and majored in accounting at Mississippi State University. After graduating from law school at Ole Miss in 1981, he went on to practice law for almost a decade in Southaven, specializing in criminal protection and individual injury litigation. In 1983, he was elected to the state Home of Representatives and served until 1990.

One day at the DeSoto County courthouse, Grisham overheard the harrowing testimony of the twelve-year-old rape victim and was inspired to commence a novel exploring what would have occurred if the girl’s dad had murdered her assailants. Getting up at 5 a.m. daily to receive in many hours of composing time before heading off to function, Grisham invested 3 years on A Time to Kill and completed it in 1987. Initially refused by countless publishers, it was eventually purchased by Wynwood Press, who gave it a small 5,000 copy printing and published it in June 1988.

That may have put an end to Grisham’s hobby. But, he had absolutely started his upcoming book, and it would swiftly turn that hobby into a brand-new full-time career—and spark 1 of publishing’s biggest success stories. The day after Grisham completed A Time to Kill, he started function on another novel, the story of the hotshot young lawyer lured to an apparently best law fast which was not just what it appeared. When he sold the movie rights to The Firm to Paramount Pictures for 0,000, Grisham suddenly became a hot property among publishers, and book rights were purchased by Doubleday. Spending 47 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list, The Firm became the bestselling novel of 1991.

The successes of The Pelican Brief, which hit first found on the New York Times bestseller list, and The Client, which debuted at first, confirmed Grisham’s standing as the master of the legal thriller. Grisham’s success even renewed interest in A Time to Kill, which was republished in hardcover by Doubleday and then in paperback by Dell. This time about, it was a bestseller.
