About Brother Fish

Brother Fish is an Australian saga spanning eighty years and 4 continents.

Inspired by real occasions, Bryce Courtenay's novel informs the story of 3 persons from greatly differing backgrounds. All they have in well-known is a tough beginning in lifetime.

Jack McKenzie is a harmonica player, soldier, dreamer and small-time pro fisherman from a tiny island in Bass Strait. Nicole Lenoir-Jourdan is a strong-willed female hiding from an ambiguous past in Shanghai. Larger than lifetime, Private Jimmy Oldcorn was when a street kid and leader of the New York gang. Together, they reap a big and not usually legitimate fortune within the sea.

Brother Fish is an inspiring human drama of 3 lives brought together and changed forever by the extraordinary occasions of recent history. But almost all of all it is very about the energy of friendship and love.

About Bryce Courtenay

I was born illegitimately in 1933 in South Africa and invested my early childhood years in a little town deep in the heart of the Lebombo mountains.

It was a somewhat isolated community and I grew up among farm folk and the African folks. At the age of five I was delivered to a boarding school which may be better described as a combination orphanage and reform school, where I learned to box - though less as a sport and more as a signifies to remain alive.

But I survived to return to a tiny mountain town called Barberton in the North Eastern piece of the nation.

"One day the school hall was raided by authorities who then branded me a Communist as they considered educating Africans a subversive act. "
Here I met Doc, a drunken German music instructor who invested the upcoming limited years filling my young notice with all the wonders of nature as we roamed the significant mountains. His was the greatest knowledge I was ever to get, despite the scholarship I won to a prestigious boy's school and thereafter to a college in England where I studied Journalism.

I came to Australia because I was banned from returning to my own nation.

This was because that I had started a weekend school for Africans in the school hall of the prestigious boy's school I attended.

One day the school hall was raided by the authorities who then branded me a Communist as they considered educating Africans a subversive act.

While studying journalism, I met a beautiful Australian girl.

"Come to my nation!" Benita invited.

I did, and after arriving in Australia, married her. Benita gave me 3 splendid sons, Brett, Adam and Damon. Brett, who married Ann has provided me 3 beautiful grandsons, Ben today 14, Jake is going to turn 12 and Marcus is almost 6 years older.

I have lived all my Australian lifetime in Sydney (the nicest destination on earth) and, until I began composing fiction, prepared my profession in advertising functioning as a copywriter and creative director.

At the age of 55 I decided to take the plunge. I had been telling stories since the age of five and had usually recognized I will be a author some day, though existence kept getting in the means until I realised that it was either today or not.
