About Charlie and Lola

Charlie and Lola are characters built by writer Lauren Child. The siblings were initially introduced in a series of books that have been later prepared into a tv series. Despite being mainly aimed at kids aged 3–7,it has big popularity with adults, with humorous and relatable storylines. Lola is an energetic, imaginative small girl; Charlie is a individual and type elder brother usually prepared to aid Lola discover and grow. The initially "Charlie and Lola" book, I Will Not Ever Never Eat a Tomato, published in 2001, won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal. The character of Lola was based on an inquisitive small girl whom Child encountered on a train in Denmark. About the Author Lauren Child

Lauren Child was born in 1965 in Marlborough, the center of 3 daughters. Christened Helen, she later changed her name to Lauren. She attended St John's School and from 16, Marlborough College, where her dad was Head of Art . She studied Art quickly at Manchester Polytechnic and later at City and Guilds of London Art School, after which Lauren Childworked in a range of jobs, including as a painting assistant to Damien Hirst. Lauren Child additionally began her own firm, 'Chandeliers for the People', creating exotic lampshades together with all the actor Andrew St Clair; it wasn't a commercial success, though the lampshades are quickly recognisable as Child's function and very valued. Between 1998 and 2003 she worked for the shape agency 'Big Fish'.

In 1999 she had 2 pic books published, I Want a Pet! (1999) and Clarice Bean, That's Me (1999), the latter being shortlisted for the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize. In 2000 she won a Kate Greenaway Medal for I Will Not Ever, NEVER Eat a Tomato (2000) along with a 2nd Nestlé Smarties Book Prize in 2002 for That Pesky Rat (2002). In the same year, she wrote her initially children's novel, Utterly Me, Clarice Bean (2002). Her 2nd book in this series, Clarice Bean Spells Trouble was shortlisted for the 2005 British Book Awards Children's Book of the Year. The 3rd novel in the series, Clarice Bean, Don't Look Then was published in 2006. Lauren Child's humorous illustrations contain different media including magazine cuttings, collage, information and photography and also conventional watercolours.
