But what does it all have to do with a naval battle fought 2 100 years ago and centuries-old Islamic scrolls which the Libyans appear thus determined to obtain?  The answers usually lead Cabrillo full circle into history, and into another pitched battle found on the sea, this time against Islamic terrorists - and with all the fate of countries resting on its result.

About the Author Clive Cussler

Clive Cussler grew up in Alhambra, California. He attended Pasadena City College for 2 years, then enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and served as an aircraft mechanic and flight engineer in the Military Air Transport Service. Upon discharge he became a copywriter and later creative director at 2 of the nation's leading ad agencies. He wrote and produced radio and tv commercials in Hollywood that won many global honors including an honor at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

Clive Cussler started composing novels in 1965 and published his initially function featuring his continuous series hero, Dirk Pitt, in 1973. His initially non-fiction, The Sea Hunters, was introduced in 1996. The Board of Governors of the Maritime College, State University of New York, considered The Sea Hunters in lieu of the Ph.D. thesis and granted Cussler a Doctor of Letters degree in May, 1997. He and his team of marine experts and NUMA volunteers have noticed over 60 historically extensive underwater wreck websites including the initially submarine to sink a ship in battle, the Confederacy's Hunley, as well as its victim, the Union's Housatonic; the U-20, the U-boat that sank the Lusitania; the Cumberland, which was sunk by the well-known ironclad, Merrimack; the famous Confederate raider Florida; the Navy airship, Akron, the Republic of Texas Navy warship, Zavala, found under a parking lot in Galveston, and the Carpathia, which sank virtually six years to-the-day after plucking Titanic's survivors within the sea.
