.Themes

George Lucas embraces a design of epic storytelling that he pertains to as "motifs"; prevalent themes and concepts which he changes somewhat each time they recur. The concept is lifted from romantic (early 19th century) music, but Lucas applies it both visually and as an key piece of his storytelling.

On a greater scale, there are numerous parallels amongst the authentic trilogy and the prequel trilogy, as the stories of Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker echo and reflect each additional in myriad techniques.

The Force is regarded as the many recognizable ingredients of the Star Wars mythos. It is described by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the authentic Star Wars movie as, "An power field built by all living points. It surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds the galaxy together."

Those who may use the Force, including the Jedi, could do feats of telepathy, psychokinesis, prescience (additionally clairvoyance), and mental control. Two aspects of the Force are emphasised: the light side and the dark side. The light side of the Force is the facet aligned with superior, benevolence, and healing. The dark side of the Force is aligned with worry, hatred, aggression, and malevolence; this side of the Force appears more effective, particularly to people who utilize it, because it really is driven by rage and hatred — its effects are more direct and simpler and quicker to achieve. In fact, neither the light nor the dark side of the Force is stronger than the different, each possessing its own blessings and disadvantages. As an example, the dark side conveys an inherent drawback to its consumers, that is arrogance and overconfidence in their own abilities. But, this aggression enables its acolytes to become more formidable warriors — illustrated when Luke can finally overcome his dad in battle as a result of his rage at the considered his sister turning to the dark side. On the different hand, Jedi may sometimes become crippled by their compassion and act "soft." This really is balanced by an ability to stay calm even in extreme circumstances.
